I had the pleasure of attending industry brunch this past Monday at Trina’s Starlite Lounge with a few friends and I actually had a lot of fun. I plan on going to a lot more brunches this year and this was a great start to that goal! Trina’s is located in Somerville at 3 Beacon Street.
A small but packed bar with a side room for seating. You can put your name down with the hostess to be seated in the side room at a table and grab a drink at the bar while you wait. You can order from the brunch menu at the bar as well if you feel so inclined.
There was a bit of a wait, seeing as what seemed like everyone wanted brunch at Trina’s that day, I grabbed a fresh squeezed orange juice and a homemade poptart from the bar while me and my friends waited to be seated. The poptart flavor of the week was cannoli, and it was so unbelievably delicious that I could probably eat them everyday. A friend mentioned that they make raspberry ones as well and I hope to make it back on a week they have those!
Once seated I grabbed a “Tofu Slam” as my brunch selection, I can’t stomach eggs so I figured I’d try the tofu approach. It was surprisingly delightful, it even looked like real eggs scrambled with peppers and onions. It came with a side of vegan sausage, house potatoes and toast. Overall very filling and an interesting substitute for your traditional egg filled breakfast dish. I enjoyed my experience there and would definitely go back to enjoy another delightful brunch with friends.
