I initially signed up for ipsy months ago, but only in the past 3 months opted to get the glambag. To be completely honest, I only opted in to get the galaxy bag, because I may have a slight obsession with space. I ended up sticking around for another two months after that in order to see if I liked the subscription box enough to continue being a glambag receiver.
In this months glambag I recieved, Tucker Ashley Advanced Peptide Eye Complex, Hanalei Sugar Lip Scrub, Pixi by Petra Mesmersizing Mineral Duo in Lavender Bloom, theBalm Cosmetics Mr. Write (now), & Skone Cosmetics Smudger Brush. The bag this month is printed with an artpop style female face with sunglasses, repeated, the print is only on one side of the bag, the flip side is a dark blue and the zipper is neon green. This months bag is about 6×4 inch sized bag, so it fits a few select items.
My first impressions of the products themselves are as follows; The smudger brush is soft and seems promising, I am excited to use it and see how well it works out. The lip scrub smells like lemonade, but the packaging says to wipe off with a tissue after use, which is a bit odd since most lip scrubs are edible. The shadow duo has a very nice shimmer and looks like it may also be able to double as a highlighter if applied lightly. The eyeliner is a dirty maroon shade that reminds me a bit of Central Perk super shock shadow from Coulourpop. The eye cream has a clean scent and drys quickly but I don’t know if I would use it as often as it is directed on the package.
The products are “chosen for you” following a quiz you take when you sign up, you can retake the quiz whenever and it may change the products that were selected for you. The past few months of glambags have had few things that I felt I would use often, but still liked that I had the opportunity to try them out. Overall, I was underwhelmed by the size of the cosmetic bags themselves, the products are all sample sized, and only some I found useful. I do like how your account shows you what you are going to receive out of the possible items, and there is tracking information easily found on your user profile.
If you want more first impressions of other subscription boxes, leave them in the comments, or tweet me. I hope this was helpful to anyone that wants to try out Ipsy. This is not a sponsered post, I subscribed to three months of the Ipsy Glambag out of my own pocket and this was my honest thoughts on January’s Glambag. Thank you for tuning into The Style Astronaut!
